The new Forum building at the Unterradlberg site was completed this summer. The building, designed as a modular element structure, is built according to the same principle as the headquarters in St. Johann in Tirol. It houses a staff restaurant, exhibition space, offices and seminar rooms.
The Forum in Unterradlberg is now the fifth new building in the series of our modularly designed company buildings designed and developed by architect Bruno Moser. Here, our large board formats determined the modular concept. However, modular construction does not mean that completely prefabricated room cells of always the same dimensions are produced in the plant, to then be lined up and stacked to form a building on the construction site. At EGGER, we take a different approach to modular construction: Modularity refers to the always identical dimensions of the individual surface elements for walls, ceilings and floors from which buildings are made. The length and width of these surface elements correspond to the maximum format of the OSB 4 TOP board with 11.40 x 2.80 m. The floor/ceiling and wall elements are planked with this board. Such a building is therefore also based on the board format as a construction grid. This is also the case in Unterradlberg.
The eleven-metre high, rectangular building with external dimensions of just under 23 m by 19.60 m houses a reception area and a staff restaurant on the ground floor. The two upper floors are reserved for an exhibition area as well as offices, training and seminar rooms. They are accessed by an open staircase and a lift. The three-storey wooden construction rests on a basement made of reinforced concrete. In addition to glued-laminated timber for the columns and the interior of the box girder and timber frame construction elements, it mainly uses OSB boards. With the construction grid based on the above-mentioned board dimensions, the spans for the 2.80 m wide ceiling and roof elements are specified as 11.40 m on the one hand, and the width of the wall elements as 2.80 m or a multiple thereof on the other.
