Our goal: Net Zero by 2050 – The EGGER Way

Our goals

The EGGER Group is pursuing the goal of Net Zero by 2050. To achieve this, we have set interim targets for 2030 and are implementing appropriate measures.

Power plant with renewable fuels

Use of renewable energy

The majority of the energy used by the EGGER Group – 71% in total – came from renewable sources in the 2025/2026 financial year.

Raw material wood

Wood-based materials store carbon during their use.

We manufacture our products predominantly from the valuable resource wood. Trees absorb CO2 as they grow. The carbon remains bound in the wood for as long as it is used materially (temporary carbon storage).

Biomass power plant with recycled material

integrated locations

Using wood residues that can no longer be utilised in production, we generate energy from renewable sources in the 2025/2026 financial year.

Our commitment: The EGGER way to Net Zero

The EGGER Group aims to reduce its climate-impacting greenhouse gas emissions: EGGER is pursuing the Net Zero target by 2050.

  • The goal of “Net Zero” means reducing climate-impacting emissions as far as possible and offsetting any remaining unavoidable residual emissions through corresponding withdrawals from the atmosphere.
  • We focus on reducing our emissions, rather than offsetting them outside our value chain.
  • We are pursuing a defined climate strategy to reduce our Group-wide carbon footprint.
  • Our approach is Group-wide. We are pursuing the goal of gradually reducing our climate-impacting emissions and reaching Net Zero by 2050.
  • We have repeatedly analysed our Corporate Carbon Footprint in detail and derived goals and levers from it.
  • This includes not only the climate-impacting greenhouse gas emissions that we cause directly in our plants but also those for which we are indirectly responsible through purchased energy and the upstream and downstream value chain .
  • On our way to Net Zero, we have defined interim targets until 2030 and are implementing appropriate measures and investments.

Our corporate carbon footprint and our interim targets

It will be challenging to make the Net Zero 2050 target a reality. The EGGER Group’s commitment requires comprehensive measures across many areas of the company. On the way to Net Zero, we set ourselves milestones and interim targets.

The EGGER way to Net Zero - Overview with division of the levers into the three scopes
Figure - Scope 1 of the EGGER Group's Corporate Carbon Footprint

Direct emissions from our plants (Scope 1)

In the 2025/2026 financial year, Scope 1 accounted for 10% of the EGGER Group’s Corporate Carbon Footprint: Direct release of climate-impacting emissions in our plants (e.g. natural gas, own motor vehicle fleet).

Our goal is to reduce our plants’ direct climate-impacting emissions (Scope 1) by at least 30% by 2030. (compared with the 2022 base year)

Levers in this area are: Energy savings and efficiency improvements, additional biomass power plants, as well as zero-emission vehicles in the motor vehicle fleet.

Figure - Scope 2 of the EGGER Group's Corporate Carbon Footprint

Indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2)

In the 2025/2026 financial year, Scope 2 accounted for 10% of the EGGER Group’s Corporate Carbon Footprint: Indirect release of climate-impacting emissions through purchased energy (e.g. purchased electricity)

Our goal is to reduce our indirect climate-impacting emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2) by at least 40% by 2030. (compared with the 2022 base year)

Levers in this area are: Savings through energy management, purchasing electricity from renewable energies and expanding our in-house electricity production.

Figure - Scope 3 of the EGGER Group's Corporate Carbon Footprint

Indirect upstream and downstream emissions (Scope 3)

In the 2025/2026 financial year, Scope 3 accounted for 80% of the EGGER Group’s Corporate Carbon Footprint: Indirect release of climate-impacting emissions in our upstream and downstream value chain (e.g. glue, paper, freight)

Our goal is to reduce indirect upstream and downstream climate-impacting emissions (Scope 3) by at least 10% by 2030. (compared with the 2022 base year)

Levers in this area are: Intensive collaboration with our business partners on joint solutions, optimisations involving binders and impregnating resins, use of new technologies for chemical raw materials and transport, increasing our proportion of recycled wood, and procuring products and raw materials with a lower Product Carbon Footprint than the alternatives used to date.
