The Most Sustainable Interior Material: TFL is Now Made with Recycled Wood

As we seek to design healthier spaces, more sustainable buildings, and more ethical supply chains, wood-based materials offer a unique convergence of environmental, emotional, and economic value. This course will explore how today’s advanced wood products are delivering on all three pillars of Health, Safety, and Welfare.

Participants will look at how material innovation intersects with ecological stewardship, human wellness, and social equity – and how design decisions can help move the industry forward.

Value Engineering: A Cost Comparison of TFL & Laminate Versus Alternate Materials

This Learning Unit provides an overview of value engineering, and how using a combination of thermally fused laminate (TFL) and laminates (CPL & HPL) versus real wood and wood veneers in residential and commercial projects can save valuable time, money and resources.

It demonstrates material and labor cost savings using estimates from fabricators on real world and speculative projects, while highlighting the similarities and differences between TFL and laminate decorative surfaces.

This continuing education unit provides an overview of wood-based solutions, such as Thermally Fused Laminate (TFL) and Laminates, as affordable, high-quality, decorative materials for residential and commercial projects.
The differences with these decorative surfaces, how they are manufactured, its features and benefits, the availability of innovative designs, and its usage application options in both residential and commercial settings are all explored.
