The human resources department was fast to reply and set up an online meeting. It was a good interview. We talked about the job, my experience, and my background in engineering. Shortly after, the plant invited me to an in-person meeting. It went very well, and here I am.

I applied out of curiosity. Turns out, the role of process technology specialist at EGGER is a perfect fit for me.

A team of seven where everyone supports one another
As a process technology specialist, I focus on technologies that will help us increase efficiency. I work in a team of seven, all with different specializations and ages. There’s our manager. Two colleagues who handle the 5S Method work from an office on the production floor. I share an office with another woman and two men. Together, we’re responsible for improving efficiency and quality while ensuring standardization and continuity.
There’s a lot of variety. Some days, I'm busy at my desk, but most of the time, we're out on the line. To solve issues, we need to get a good sense of where they occur. We analyze trend and performance data, investigate root causes of equipment issues, and improve production systems. The latter involves installing the latest technological devices as we continuously integrate evolving technology. We explore new trains, parts, and control tools and communicate with other departments.

In this job, you learn something new every day: technologies, tools, methods, and different approaches to solving issues. It’s great, really.
A degree with a wide range of career options
I studied industrial engineering at the College in Eskişehir. It’s a 4-year degree program covering multiple disciplines. Many students in my program were women, maybe because the degree gives you such a wide range of career options. You can go for a desk job, work in production, production planning, or even sales. I, for my part, have always been fascinated by how things work, how processes shape outcomes, and how you can influence them. That’s why I focused on manufacturing development from the start.

I joined the training series by employees for employees, EGGER Kompakt to learn more about EGGER, and enjoy the experience. Now, I’ve been invited to train as an instructor myself.
Laying a solid career foundation
Jobs like mine that emphasize the practical application of engineering skills come with career advantages. They offer a faster path to promotions or additional responsibilities. And, eventually, I do want to take on more responsibility. But this is only my second job. Right now, I want to gain experience and learn all there is to know about the production units, the programs we use, the systems and other departments. It’s like solving a giant puzzle. Finding the right pieces isn’t always easy, but it’s fun.

EGGER offers courses for personal and professional growth. I'm in ‘Measurement systems analysis’ and ‘Design of experiments’ and just started ‘Time management.
