You may know us for high quality Eurodekor Faced Chipboard, or strong P5 structural flooring, but do you know what our wood-based panels are made from, and how they support a sustainable future?
'More From Wood' has been EGGER’s principle since it was founded in 1961. We manufacture products for commercial and residential projects in the furniture, interior design, building and flooring industries, using nature’s renewable resources. We have always stood for the responsible use of the resource wood. We combine this innovative approach with sustainable management, efficient production processes and our proven high EGGER quality.
There is national concern that the supply of wood will fall behind demand to deliver on sustainable manufacturing and building ambitions, as well as on nature restoration and net zero goals.
Time for more trees
The importance of trees for the future of the planet, supporting local economies and recreation, house building, shopfitting and furniture manufacturing, cannot be underestimated.
EGGER Forestry and EGGER (UK) proactively support more tree planting in the UK . We encourage site visits by local and national representatives from relevant authorities and specialist associations, to highlight and discuss the importance of tree planting for our local and regional economy, and share our expertise in the forestry sector.
As part of our Decorative Collection 24+ launch we made a pledge to plant a tree on behalf of each customer who registered their EDC24+ swatch, to help offset the carbon emitted during its production. Our goal is to plant 5,000 trees in a forestry site local to our Hexham plant.
In line with UK forest standard guidelines regarding the diversity of species, 65% of the trees planted will be Sitka spruce, with other conifers and broadleaves making up the remaining 35%. This mix makes for a healthy and sustainable forest, which encourages wildlife habitats, and maintains water courses.
EGGER only works with FSC and PEFC accredited forests, which are managed to the highest environmental, social and economic standards.
If you have an EGGER Decorative Collection 24+ swatch, you can register it here.
If you don't have an EGGER Decorative Collection 24+ swatch, you can order one here.
You must be registered with myEGGER and logged in to order. If you aren't already registered, you can do so here .
Closed Loop Cycle
In co-ordination with our own Timberpak wood recycling centres, we promote the careful, responsible use of the resource wood, as can be seen in our ‘closed loop’ model.
These centres have been heavily invested in and have enabled us to continuously increase the proportion of wood from the circular economy within our products, so fresh resources are conserved, while maintaining our proven EGGER quality at a consistently high level.
