Located centrally in the main square of St. Johann in Tirol (AT), the conversion of the former "Egger's" café has created a new meeting place for locals and guests: the Platzl. Architect Johanna Egger carefully selected decors and products from the EGGER portfolio to give the restaurant a modern yet natural feel.
The synchronised wood reproduction H1367 ST40 Light Natural Casella Oak was used generously. Whether used extensively as wall cladding, on tables or doors - this decor, with its synchronised surface that is pleasant to the touch, adds a natural warmth to the restaurant. The Casella Oak shows an elegant floret pattern in a soft but differentiated play of colours that allows for many flowing and modern combinations. It becomes eye-catching as a compact laminate with milled grooves: the black core is exposed and creates the appearance of slats.
Terrazzo designs are in demand again. In the "Platzl", the F021 ST75 Grey Triestino Terrazzo decor is used for this reason. It has a natural, somewhat larger design that can be combined very well with surfaces in grey uni colours, as well as woodgrain decors thanks to its grey colour components. The ST75 Mineral Satin surface texture gives the decor a velvety feel, but visually it adds a natural irregularity to it. Some of the tables and the bar counter were finished in this striking decor.
The round tables at the large window fronts, which offer an excellent view of the main square, feature EGGER compact laminates in the F228 ST87 Anthracite Titanite decor. This dark sandstone reproduction looks very authentic thanks to its animated, large-format appearance. The warm and soft colour gradient between brown and black makes many combinations with woodgrain decors possible, as well as black of course. The alternation of matt and shiny areas in the ST78 Mineral Granite surface texture makes the character even more authentic.
The benches in U335 ST9 Rusty Red act as colour accents. This red nuance is intense but not too striking. Thanks to the use of greyish pigments, this uni decor has a very high-quality look and allows a variety of possible combinations with wood and material decors.
This project shows how the use of a variety of colours and textures can create an inviting and inspiring ambience that is attractive to both locals and tourists alike.
