Residential extension in the Kitzbühel Alps – with heart and sustainable solutions
A small single-family home became a place with enough room for three families – a place for living together, retreat and the future. A characterful home was created in the Kitzbühel Alps through a loving extension and additional storeys.
Bringing the extension to life
The ground floor was extended and the upper floors were added using timber frame construction. A building with additional space was created in just 1.5 years to meet the needs of a growing family.
- 490 m² of living space – room for several generations
- Combination of solid and timber frame construction – robust yet flexible
- Rapid, precise implementation to provide a long-lasting solution
Building products installed
The combination of solid construction and timber frame construction ensures stability and durability. EGGER OSB 4 TOP boards were used here, which are dimensionally stable, resilient and suitable for humid conditions. The planning and implementation were carried out precisely so that the building fulfils both the functional requirements and the demands for contemporary construction quality.
- Around 1,500 m² of EGGER OSB 4 TOP boards – particularly sturdy, dimensionally stable, easy to process
High-quality materials for contemporary living
Natural materials such as aged wood in the interiors create an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The project illustrates how high-quality building materials and well-thought-out construction methods work together to create a durable, flexible and sustainably built home.
A successful example of how modern construction and emotional values can be combined.
Passive house – energy-efficient and high-quality construction
Energy-efficient living in a passive house
This single-family home shows that modern living is more than just four walls. Clear architecture and tangible living comfort are combined with certified energy efficiency. Thanks to the passive house standard construction method, the house remains pleasantly warm in winter and cool in summer – with extremely low energy costs. With a heating requirement of just ≤ 15 kWh/m², it is subject to one of the world's strictest standards for energy-saving construction.
The entire building envelope was constructed using timber frame construction – energy-efficient, resource-conserving and durable. High-quality EGGER wood-based materials were used, which stand for quality and durability:
- OSB 4 TOP – load-bearing, dimensionally stable, ideal for airtight constructions
- DHF boards – vapour-permeable, weather-resistant, without additional foiling
Tangible benefits in everyday life
Exceptionally low-emission materials create a healthy indoor climate in which the whole family feels comfortable. At the same time, construction according to the passive house standard ensures that significantly less CO₂ is emitted than in a conventional new build – a bonus for the environment and the future.
Thanks to the combination of strong thermal insulation and modern ventilation with heat recovery, the warmth stays in the house instead of escaping outside. At the same time, renewable raw materials are used – good for the environment and for the future. The result: significantly lower energy consumption compared to a new build as per GEG standards. For the residents, this means noticeably lower energy costs, month after month:
- Energy consumption is reduced to a minimum
- Low operating costs in the long term
- Long-term higher value stability thanks to the recognised passive house standard
Technical solutions for greater comfort
With around 150 m² of living space, barrier-free access and a spacious terrace, the house fulfils modern living requirements. Sliding shading elements ensure a natural temperature balance: it stays pleasantly cool in summer, while plenty of daylight enters the house in winter – without any additional energy consumption.
A house that fulfils the passive house standard and is demonstrably energy-efficient, built with tested, low-emission materials according to the manufacturer's specifications.
Design possibilities from the façade to the details – customise your timber frame construction home
Building a house means more than just erecting four walls. It is the start of a new phase in your life – characterised by your own ideas, needs and values. With timber frame construction , you are opting for a solution that offers many advantages, including design freedom.
A single-family home in wood construction in Ismaning near Munich shows just how versatile this can be: modern design, sustainable construction through controlled and certified selection of materials and a customised home that perfectly suits its residents.
Innovative design – from the façade to the details
Whether natural larch wood, elegant fibre cement panels, clinker brick or even metal – the façade can be designed as desired. The load-bearing timber frame construction remains discreetly in the background, but provides a stable and energy-efficient basis.
The inside of the house also impresses with its stability, durability and healthy living climate. The load-bearing structure was built using timber frame construction and fitted with high-quality EGGER wood-based materials. For quality you can feel.
The combination of EGGER OSB boards in the interior design and EGGER DHF boards in the building envelope ensures:
- stable construction
- dry, moisture-regulating walls
- efficient insulation with slim walls – more living space with the same floor area
- short construction time due to precise prefabrication
Sustainable and built for generations
This house demonstrates that individuality and building with wood are the perfect match. The construction is designed to achieve very good thermal insulation properties, which can reduce energy requirements during operation. The timber frame construction method also enables short construction times and flexible floor plan and design options. The result is a home that offers modern living comfort and can be adapted to future requirements.
