EGGER Timberpak UK hosted the latest Wood Recyclers Association meeting in Hexham, where it was also announced that its Director Mark Hayton would be re-elected as a Board member.
On March 11th, EGGER Timberpak UK hosted the latest Wood Recyclers Association (WRA) members meeting at the Hexham Mart. The day before, the Board also met at EGGER Hexham for their spring meeting.
Mark Hayton, Director of Timberpak, along with Richard Coulson, Biomass Wood Procurement Manager, RWE Supply and Trading, were re-elected to their positions on the WRA Board during the members meeting.
Meeting attendees heard about the upcoming Waste Tracking Project and how it is likely to be implemented going forward. They also listened to presentations by two HSE officers about the importance of monitoring dust in the workplace and how this should be achieved, as well as updates on the WRA’s Waste Wood Classification project.
Julia Turner, Executive Director of the WRA, said: “It was great to see our members were still able to attend in such uncertain times and it proved another very interesting and fruitful meeting for everyone. We are now moving forward with our work on dust in the workplace and will be talking to the HSE to develop guidelines later this year, so having them at the meeting and able to explain things so clearly to our members was a real bonus.
"Thanks to all our presenters, members and exhibitors for helping us to achieve another great meeting.”The meeting was followed by tours of the EGGER Hexham plant, Northumberland’s largest employer and one of the most technologically advanced chipboard production sites in Europe. Members were able to learn about the production process of melamine-faced chipboard (MFC) and structural flooring which are produced at the site, as well as how important Timberpak’s supply of recycled wood is to the company.
Mark Hayton said: “I’m very pleased to have been re-elected as a WRA board member and will continue to represent the industry and work with the members’ best interests in mind. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to take WRA members around the EGGER Hexham plant and show them just how important Timberpak’s role is in supplying EGGER with the recycled wood it needs in its production process.”
