The Craigeller harvesting site located within Shinnelhead forest is a good example of steep ground operations by EGGER Forestry.
Operations on site involve the harvesting and extraction of timber on steep, challenging terrain. In order to carry this out, a T-Winch traction assist system was utilised by Jim Wilmer & Sons Timber Harvesting.
The T-Winch system allows both harvester & forwarder operators to maintain safe traction of the machine on challenging terrain, making it possible to work areas which would otherwise be inaccessible given the challenging topography.
This method of harvesting and extraction also helps to minimise the need for chainsaw operators to enter steep and windblown areas of the site, making operations safer and more productive.
