Doesn’t it seem that each year passes by quicker and quicker? The last 12 months have certainly flown and now seems a good time to pause for breath and look back on 2018.
Our focus will always be on providing an exceptional service to customers, suppliers and employees. This is underpinned by ongoing investment in the business to ensure we continue to improve and bring real benefits to everyone.
One of the most obvious examples of this was the £550,000 investment at Timberpak Scotland. The yard expansion project now incorporates a new picking station, dedicated area to process civic amenity material and increased yard space for wagons to tip their loads.
Customers now benefit from improved turnaround times and we can provide more high quality recycled wood to our parent company EGGER, a key component in their chipboard production process.
It may seem a distant memory but this summer was one of the best on record, with the country basking in glorious weather for weeks. However, working in those temperatures wasn’t always fun!

To ensure our employees remained safe and healthy we introduced a summer working policy, including UV Aware stations with sunblock; recommendations on drinking plenty of cold water and taking breaks out of the sun’s direct rays.
A ‘milkround’ service was recently introduced at Timberpak Scotland to pick up smaller quantities of recycled wood from companies. Due to its success it will now be rolled out to our other sites in the near future – so keep an eye out for details.
And finally, as we continue to get busier we also took the opportunity to strengthened our fleet by purchasing one new additional truck to service and replace an existing one at Timberpak Yorkshire and we have one on order next spring for Timberpak Scotland. So all in all a pretty good year.
It’s now time to look forward to 2019 and what that will bring. We already have a number of exciting things in the pipeline which will bring further improvements - watch this space!
