Timberpak is proud to broaden its support of local social enterprises by partnering with Glasgow Wood Recycling.
Glasgow Wood Recycling, est. 2006, is committed like Timberpak to reducing the amount of wood going to landfill. They create made-to-order and ready-made furniture for the general public, private and public organisations or even eco-gardens, all available from their “Revolve” accredited store or www.glasgowwoodrecycling.org.uk.
Received orders create training and employment opportunities, helping to tackle social exclusion. Wood Unlimited is Glasgow Wood Recycling’s training programme offering participants a 6-week course aimed at reducing the impact of loss, isolation and loneliness by providing opportunities to connect with conservation and community projects and giving them practical woodworking skills.
Timberpak will support this worthwhile enterprise by taking wood that Glasgow Wood Recycling cannot use for furniture-making, recycling it for free at Timberpak Bellshill.
This offers a significant saving on Glasgow Wood Recycling’s waste disposal costs, allowing them to better fund future volunteer placements and projects.
Peter Lavelle, Chief Executive of Glasgow Wood Recycling, said: "Our relationship with Timberpak has been entirely positive and we’re very happy partnering with a company that understands and relates well to the values of our social enterprise. We look forward to strengthening this positive relationship in the coming years."
Gavin Ball, Timberpak Customer Relationship Manager at Timberpak, said: “Timberpak is pleased to support social enterprises at our Leeds, Newcastle and now Glasgow sites. Glasgow Wood Recycling provides not only supplies of wood that Timberpak can recycle, but also offers a much needed community service.”
