Noel Urwin, from Stocksfield, has raised a staggering £5,251.36 by running over 1000km for charity. Over the past year, Noel has taken part in an eye-watering 57 running events, with sponsorship from his employer, EGGER. He has completed the challenge in all-weather conditions, and in one weekend completed an impressive 100km.

In total, Noel has completed 1193.49km, which is the equivalent of running from Hexham to London and back! Noel has worked at EGGER since 1988 in the lamination department. As part of the company’s EGGER Runs scheme Noel was sponsored €5 per kilometre, which meant he was able to raise over £5,000 for local charities.

Noel has chosen to donate £500 each to North Tyne, Scarborough and Ryedale, Northumberland and Cleveland Mountain Rescue. The remaining £3,251.36 will be donated to Noel and EGGER’s chosen charity, Gateway into the Community.

Noel Urwin, Production Manager, Lamination, said “Running is something I love to do, with the added benefit of staying fit and active! I am delighted that EGGER Runs has been able to help raise money for the local charities I have chosen to support. I am very proud of my achievement and I am looking forward to running throughout 2020!

Bob Livesey, Commercial Director at EGGER Hexham, said “Noel’s achievement is great testament to him and we are delighted to have been able to support him throughout his challenge”.
