Employees raise money for good causes through healthy work initiative

In addition to being one of the Hexham Half Marathon’s main sponsors, EGGER (UK) Limited, saw a team of eight employees complete the challenging 13 mile course and raise funds for a range of charities.

Under the ‘EGGERruns’ initiative, 5 Euros are donated to good causes or non-profit organisations for every kilometre completed. During 2016 EGGER employees across the whole Group completed 28,362.25kms and raised over 120,000 Euros for charities.

Jackie Stevenson, EGGER Human Resources Country Manager explained: “It is great to see the popularity of the EGGERruns initiative benefitting both local and national good causes, as well as the health of our employees.

“Our sponsorship of the Hexham Half Marathon is also a good fit with our ‘North East Better Health at Work’ – Continuing Excellence status, which we have held for ten years. In addition to our EGGERruns initiative we provide annual flu vaccinations, blood pressure and cholesterol tests as well as welfare advice on diet, exercise, smoking, drugs, alcohol and emotional wellbeing topics.”

The EGGER employees from across the business raised 168 Euros for their good causes which included EGGER’s nominated charity – Northumbria Blood Bikes as well as Stroke Association, Prudhoe Youth Group, Heel & Toe Children’s Charity and Tynedale Hospice at Home.
