She was one of the most important muses of the 20th century, now a Barcelona hotel in the Vincci Group has been named after this inspiring woman called Gala.
“Gala became the salt of my life, the steel of my personality, my beacon, my double – ME.” This is how Salvador Dali described his feelings towards the woman to whom he was married for almost 50 years. But their relationship was not as symbiotic as he thought. It was in fact their disagreement that made their love so strong. The “Gala” hotel in Barcelona also tells a story of complimentary contrasts.
As soon as you set foot into the foyer, you are greeted by oversized portraits of the lovers, flanking either side of the central staircase along with the facade and the hydraulic lifts.
These were installed when the manor house was built in 1900. A historical background for the modern design which took up residence following renovation. The leitmotif is defined by EGGER’s dark brown “Mali Wenge” which is used in the foyer and in the bedrooms. Another EGGER decor can be found in the library, "Tirano Pear Tree" with an aesthetically-pleasing highlighted grain. Both of these colours ensure warmth and comfort – feelings which are vital to the survival of a hotel as they are for a relationship.
