LISI - The House

Vienna (AT)

Sustainable, flexible, and innovative

Self-sufficient energy building wins contest for sustainable construction.
“LISI – Living inspired by sustainable innovation” by the Vienna Technical University, is a project that was carried out in 2013 according to the EnergiePLUS standard. It marks the first time that an Austrian university has taken part in the Solar Decathlon – the most important competition in the field of solar and sustainable construction held in California, USA.

Designed as a two-person household, the project contains a bathroom, bedroom and a generous yet flexible living area. Thanks to the material characteristics, the team chose EGGER OSB and DHF boards for the construction of the walls and roof. The jury was convinced by the concept of constructing the house almost entirely from wood.
