The salt shop at the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine connects both underground and overground, acting as a visitor exit.
To mark the 500th anniversary of the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine, a shop was built that also functions as a ticket office and main exit. The shop area is intended to follow the transition from the underground mine to the Berchtesgadener Land above ground. For this purpose, materials were selected according to their special feel and look, and they were also cut into different shapes. The route begins with decor F311 ST87 Ceramic Anthracite, whose dark colour and crystalline texture are reminiscent of the atmosphere underground and thus bring the mine right into the shop. Decor F311 ST87 was cut into prisms to imitate the layers of the Earth and can also be found on the ceiling in the form of a mine tunnel. If you continue along the path, the ambience brightens up with decor W1101 ST76 Alpine White, which has been fixed to the walls and windows in a diamond pattern. The grainy surface alludes to salt, while the design language reflects the surrounding mountain world. The logo of the Reichenhall brand salt is also reflected in this way. The woodgrain decor H3404 ST38 Brown Mountain Larch was used for the shelves and stands out thanks to its visual and haptic quality. The Feelwood decor was chosen for this because it is closest to the product and by extension, the customer; it is intended to represent the connection between nature and humans. Given the high number of visitors to the salt shop, the high resistance offered by H3404 is also advantageous.
