Finding an apprenticeship that's a good fit

While I was at the technical school, I got to try out different careers like plumbing, locksmithing, and metalwork. The electrician program was my favorite, though. I spent three days, four days, and even a week at different companies exploring.

I checked out EGGER for career exploration days back in high school. After that, I did four days there in technical school and, finally, another four days of job shadowing.

After checking out a few places, I finally picked EGGER, not least because the work atmosphere seemed pretty cool. I applied and was accepted.

With each apprenticeship year, you manage more tasks on your own

I am training to become an electrical technician for plant operation, automation, and process control technology. It’s a four-year apprenticeship. This is a three-year apprenticeship. After spending a few weeks in the training workshop, I moved to a real workshop, where I observe and learn from experienced trainers. I am also given my first tasks to complete independently. In the following years, I will progress to installation, repairs, and maintenance throughout the plant.
The apprenticeship includes numerous courses and training sessions. We learn about occupational health and safety regulations, sustainable development, and the processes within EGGER. I can see how many opportunities the company offers me and how much knowledge and skills I can gain from working here.

Making sure everything works as it should

We take care of anything with a current across the site. We’re gradually introduced to all the systems in the production line and the site in detail, so we can maintain and repair them on our own later.

Safety is a big topic

You learn to have a mental checklist for every situation. We look out for each other. When someone misses something, you nudge them. People are of all ages, and you can talk to each and every one of them.

EGGER provides work and protective clothing: helmets, pants, t-shirts, sweatshirts, vests, and jackets. If my workwear gets damaged, I simply receive a new set.

"Staying with EGGER after my apprenticeship is important to me"

When I complete my apprenticeship, I see myself working in a shift-based system. The shifts are well-paid, which would allow me to fulfill some of my dreams. In the future, I would like to develop my skills in automation within EGGER.
