The Tyrolean wood-based panels producer EGGER, with headquarters in
St. Johann in Tyrol, is actively undertaking measures to counter the current market weakness in important markets. Counted towards this is a concrete plan of measures for the implementation of possible optimisation and cost-saving potentials throughout the whole EGGER Group. Apart from increased marketing endeavours, as well as the optimisation of the procurement and production processes, this also means adjustments with the working time models and the employee structure. These include the reduction of contract employees, the reduction of overtime and holiday entitlement accounts, but also short-time work and the lay-off of employees. From the total 5,700 employees within the EGGER Group in six countries, 200 employees are affected by short-time work, of these 140 at the headquarters in St. Johann in Tyrol. 180 employees group-wide in production and administration are affected by lay-offs. All measures are being implemented in close coordination with the labour representatives in a socially compatible way.
