Red Space as a compact design |
Egger laminates create a movable basis for an experience of pure space

“Red Space” was the highly evocative title chosen by the partnership formed between Egger, the well-known Munich-based architecture and interior design practice Schmidhuber + Partner and the exhibition stand designers Trollmann, also based in Munich, for an all-in-one walk-through spatial sculpture.
The “Red Space”, which is built inside a colour co-ordinated container, is entered through a red door, which opens into a rich red dynamic space exactly the same colour as the Egger logo.
Although the materials from which it is built, laminates mounted on 18 mm EUROSTRAND OSB and 18 mm EUROSPAN fine-grade chipboard, are used as boarding in the conventional sense, the end result is very different. In this departure from the usual applications, in the space-dominating wall and ceiling panels the materials are without exception polygonal in form, creating a surprising number of corners, which seem to change their appearance as the visitor moves around the space.
From the manufacturer’s point of view, one of the aims of this exhibit was to show exactly what these laminates, just part of the extensive range of products manufactured by the wood-based materials specialist, can achieve and to arouse the enthusiasm of interior designers and product designers for the product.
