EGGER brings the best products and decors to ZOW/EGGERZUM 2006

20.12.2005

The new decors’ play of colours and contrasts

EGGER will use derived timber products as a platform for presenting their new range of trendy decors to the branch meeting of the furniture industry and its suppliers – the ZOW in Bad Salzuffeln (20 to 23 February 2006) and the subsequent in-house exhibition Eggerzum in Brilon, as well as St. Johann in Tirol. “We use our new products to emphasise the tendency towards making furniture styles more personal” explains Product Manager, Klaus Monhoff. “Nowadays there is more talk of style groups, rather than target groups.” Combinations and contrasts are also being challenged. Recent experiences, however, have shown that new products and the mix of materials should not be in need of much explanation. “If it becomes too complicated, the fabricator and user do not accept it any more”, says Monhoff.

Colour variations with wooden decors
There is an interesting development with wooden decors: On the one hand the classic woods oak and walnut are requested in particular. On the other hand, the natural colours of these – and other reproduction woods – are more colourful. The wooden decors are set apart by various colour tones, without compromising on naturalness. Klaus Monhoff can see a further trend with the woods: They are becoming more distinct again, due to their clearly formed annual rings, knots, strong embedding or even pieces of sapwood.

Examples Fjörd Birch and Lakeland Choco Acacia
As far as reproduction woods are concerned, EGGER will present the furniture industry with two expressive reproduction woods at ZOW 2006, as Monhoff reports:

  • Fjörd Birch is a planked, very natural grand birch reproduction, which gives a light, red glimmer and also a play of colours. The decor also features distinctive annual rings. This clearly separates the visuals from the many, rather softly-defined maple designs of the last few years.

  • Lakeland Choco Acacia goes against the trend towards dark and expressive woods. The reproduction woods stand out due to their colourfulness. The structure of the wood is distinctly streaky and is suitable for both horizontal and vertical fitting. The dark chocolate colours are ideally suited for combining with colours that are new to the collection such as Canyon or Sunset.

Earth colours and gold dominate the plain colours
Over the last year EGGER has introduced various gold tones in the plain decors. This goes against the trend towards luxurious flat furnishings. “This development can still be developed further”, explains design scout Klaus Monhoff. In his opinion, the matt, shimmering precious metal decor will be continued into the medium-term. The plain colours are becoming more colourful and there is a decrease in the number of beige and brown tones. The single-tone colours will not push their way into the foreground too much, however: So that the combination with the new wood trends works well, the tendency is shifting towards earth-coloured finishes.

Plain colours and heavily-structured woods for worktops
In the worktops sector, the trend is branching out in two directions: On the one hand, the heavily-structured woods are being combined with plain colours, but on the other hand the pebbly reproductions are somewhat weaker and more harmonious, because the woods in the front range are more expressive. Even in this regard it is necessary to bridge the gap between the power of expression and colour harmony.

  • A particularly expressive new decor for worktops, that will be exhibited by EGGER at ZOW is Valentino nougat.
Valentino nougat is a sandstone reproduction that has a top layer made of small parts, but a structure that creates a wonderful deep effect. In terms of colour, this decor appears light brown, which easily becomes reddish.
