First extension phase in Shuya completed

EGGER presents itself for the first time as a Russian producer at the “Mebel” in Moscow

For the first time EGGER presented itself as a Russian producer at the "Mebel" furniture exhibition in Moscow from 15.-19.11.2005, with the product programme of the Shuya site being introduced to the Russian furniture industry. At the end of August the first EGGER Eurodekor melamine-faced board was pressed in Shuya, the 15^th plant of EGGER, approx. 300 km to the North-East of Moscow. The production of raw chipboards started at the beginning of September 2005. The production start of both installations went very well and the whole team in Shuya can be more than satisfied with the first boards “made in Shuya”.

The production capacity in Shuya is designed for 250,000 m³ Eurospan raw chipboards and 100,000 m³ Eurodekor melamine-faced boards. The raw chipboards are produced on 2 single-daylight presses. At present the installations and shift operations are continuously being optimised. EGGER expects a short-term full capacity utilisation of the installations; the customers have already made the corresponding pre-reservations.

Shuya has a railroad connection, as well as a well-developed road network between Ivanovo and Moscow which guarantees quick and reliable logistics. The energy supply is provided by an electric power transformation substation next to the plant, as well as a gas station in the vicinity of the location.

The plant employs about 200 people which mostly come from the region of Ivanovo. They have been intensively trained for their job – either in Shuya or in Austrian and German EGGER plants.  „Everyone who starts working with EGGER will receive qualified training“, Michael Egger explained.
And he continued: “Our Russian customers and partners expect to get the best quality. We will supply this with qualified and motivated employees and with modern production technologies."

Own stock programme for the Russian market

Russia is not a new market for EGGER – since 1995  EGGER has been represented in Russia with its own sales office situated in Moscow, which has moved into new premises this year and has been substantially enlarged. Russia is a very absorptive market for EGGER which already now supplies numerous furniture manufacturers and wood based panel distributors all over the country.

The plant in Shuya will bring about significant advantages for Russian customers given the shorter delivery times and increased flexibility. The Russian furniture industry and wood based panel distributors can take advantage of their own stock programme with products from the new plant, a collection (Allianz) specially coordinated with the Russian market and a Russian Internet presence including the extensive EGGER product information service.
