Stop burning our trees!
We think it’s wrong to chop down UK trees and burn them in power stations – it emits more CO2 not less, it makes electricity more expensive, it will make wood products more expensive, it will export jobs and manufacturing and we don’t have enough trees!
The Stop burning our trees campaign aims to highlight the issues and unintended consequences of the Government’s current policy (such as increases in CO2 and threats to current wood using industries) and ultimately get the Government to review the subsidy levels that currently have such a negative impact on us and our industry.
We hope the campaign will raise both the awareness of the general public, the National media (press, TV, radio, online) and as a result the policy makers such as the Minister for Energy and Climate Change.
To raise awareness there has been a number of co-ordinated activities which have used buses, tube trains, posters, magazine ad’s, MP meetings and a giant Jenga game.
But we need your help.
To lend your voice to the campaign and put pressure on the Government to review their policies sign the petition at Stopburningourtrees.org which we’d encourage you to sign.
The more signatures we can get, the more pressure we can add to the campaign and upon the Minister and help shape future Government policy.
