Bristol University Student Accommodation

Description

Bristol University has invested greatly into new, modern student accommodation. Gone are the days where a room was over complicated with woodgrain solutions, design has very much gone down the route of clean simple lines to maximise space.

The project comprises of 110+ bedrooms in the centre of Bristol, including communal kitchen and bathroom facilities. Much of the building remains the same, the sash windows have been saved yet modernised to fit the style of the room, with single heaters placed in front.

EGGER Melamine Faced Chipboard has been used in abundance to achieve a minimalistic approach and ergonomic feel. To create the feeling of space, EGGER W1000 ST9 Premium White was specified in both MFC and Eurolight. Both products were favoured by the designers over the likes of MDF or laminate. MFC for its maintenance properties i.e. easy to clean and high abrasion properties, whereas Eurolight with its chunky appearance added another dimension to the room. More importantly this being a lightweight product added benefits for those fabricating and fitting out the rooms, Eurolight is 50% lighter than MDF.

EGGER’s MFC has been used to great effect throughout the accommodation in a wide variety of applications including bed and underneath storage, desk, wardrobes, chest of drawers, shelving and bathroom vanity units.
